The Complete Process in 4-Steps
STEP 1 - Surface Preparation
Surface Preparation is paramount. Coating systems are built from the ground up, each layer supporting the one above it. To ensure lasting adhesion we grind the entire slab to expose fresh pores in the concrete. Very similar to how you would sand wood before painting. This allows the first layer of the floor system to “soak in” and mechanically bond to the slab. We will also fill any large cracks in your floor for a clean and uniform finish.
STEP 2 - Basecoat
Our basecoat is a pure 100% polyurea that we acquire directly from the manufacturer. When applied correctly, polyurea will mechanically and chemically bond to the concrete. This level of adhesion far exceeds traditional epoxies or primers.
STEP 3 - Broadcast Medium
While the polyurea basecoat is still “wet” or uncured, we broadcast flakes or other medium into the floor. The flake adds structure and strengthens the floor system while also allowing you to customize the color.
STEP 4 - Topcoat
Our topcoat is a UV-stable, pure polyaspartic which tests have shown is 4X stronger and 10X more flexible than epoxy. An excellent wearable surface for foot and vehicle traffic you will enjoy for many years to come!
Within a matter of hours, the surface will have cured and be ready for use!
